What we can work on together

Every child's plan is different — most families start with one or two of these and we adapt as confidence grows.

Phonics & Early Reading

First sounds, blending and the magic moment a word becomes a word.

Phonics is where reading begins — and where wobbles can start early. I use systematic, multisensory phonics teaching that matches how your child's school teaches, filling gaps gently and building from sounds to blending to those first proud sentences.

Reading Confidence & Fluency

From reluctant reader to choosing a book by themselves.

Some children can read but don't want to — reading has become hard work instead of a pleasure. We rebuild fluency with books that match their interests and level, paired reading, and comprehension work that feels like conversation rather than interrogation.

Maths

Number confidence built in small, winnable steps.

Maths anxiety is real, and it builds fast when each lesson assumes the last one stuck. I find the exact point where understanding got shaky and rebuild from there — concrete resources first, then pictures, then the abstract stuff, exactly as good primary practice does.

English & Writing

Finding their voice — then putting it on paper.

Writing asks children to do everything at once: ideas, spelling, grammar, handwriting, stamina. No wonder some freeze. We separate the jobs, build each one up, and use your child's own interests as the raw material — because everyone writes better about things they care about.

Learning Gaps & Catch-Up

Quietly filling the gaps so school feels possible again.

Missed school, a tricky year, a topic that never quite landed — gaps happen, and they compound quietly. I assess gently to find exactly what's missing, then close the gaps in an order that makes everything else easier.

SEND & SEMH Support

Patient, flexible tuition for children with additional needs.

This is the heart of what I do. As a current primary teacher with genuine SEND and SEMH experience, I build sessions around your child's needs, sensory preferences, interests and pace — not a scheme's.

SATs Preparation

Calm, confident preparation — without the pressure cooker.

SATs loom large in Year 6, and pressure is exactly what most children don't need. My preparation is structured and thorough — arithmetic, reasoning, SPaG, reading — but wrapped in calm: familiar question styles, timing practice introduced gently, and lots of evidence for your child that they CAN do this.
